Sports Equipment Review: Wishon 919THI Driver

Our good friend Brian Hagan of GolfCoast Inc. of Renondo Beach, CA was kind enough to send us a Tom Wishon 919 THI driver with a 70g Fujikura Vista Pro S shaft for review. Unto the review:

Product Summary:

Clubhead Image

The Good:

With a shaft customized for your swing, the 919 THI checks in at under $200. The 460cc head provides forgiveness on off-center hits. Even on off-center hits the feel of the ball off the face was solid and I did not see a significant loss in distance on off-center hits as you might with other drivers. The high MOI provides great feel of the clubface. This is not a driver that feels dead on impact, rather, you can feel the ball trampoline off the face. Great look at address.

The Bad:

This is a great driver, so I had a hard time finding too many bad things to say about it. If I had to nit pick, I would say that the sound at impact was hollow and not the tradition “ping” sound you get with other drivers. Like I said, I really had to nit pick to say anything bad about this driver.

The Verdict:

For the price, the Wishon 919THI is a great option for any golfer. It provides a significant of customization for the golfer looking to buy custom rather than off the rack.

Specs:

Extended 113mm face to back dimension positions mass farther from the CG to increase the MOI to >5,000 g-cm2. TWGT’s extended back design shape sets up beautifully at address and allows golfers to play with a 5,000 g-cm2 MOI without having to accept a radical shape. Finished in a black gloss with satin polish highlights. Available in RH in 9°, 10.5° Draw Bias, 11° and 13° High Launch models and in LH 10.5°.
