The Animal Kingdom Fights Back Against the Sporting World

Well, it wasn’t a black cat, but I can’t imagine this cat, that interrupted the Mets home opener at brand new Citi Field, imparted any luck on the team:

(Thanks to Joanna Rogow and Heather Baskind for the inspiration)

I really enjoy whenever wild animals interact with sporting events.  Let’s take a look at some examples:

Randy Johnson hits a bird:

Michael Ballack hits a bird (you can see it if you look carefully at the 15 second mark)

Tennis player hits a bird:

Florida Panthers – Rat Attack!!! (4:30 mark)

Detroit Red Wings Octopi:

Midges attack Joba Chamberlain

Old Lady Hits Seagull (not for the faint of heart)

Indy Car hits Bird (Same disclaimer as above)

Squirrel on the Field at a Cardinals Game:

Squirrel Interrupts an entire inning of baseball at the Indians / White Sox Game: I like how it crawls around on it’s stomach like a ninja. I also like how the ump at the 2:30 doesn’t move at all when the squirrel gets within 6 inches of him. I would have run into the third row like a seven year old girl when that rabies ridden devil squirrel got that close to me.

This was probably the worst example of an animal ruining a sporting event. Somehow this dying cat wandered onto the field during the national anthem during a Padres game. It’s absolutely horrifying.
