I thought that my excitement for the January 5th International Bowl had already peaked.  I mean with all the history between the MAC and Big East conferences, you just know that Ball State vs. Rutgers was going to be the best International Bowl in its’ illustrious 2 year history.  Looking to increase my excitement, I headed to www.ballstatesports.com.  For those of you ignoring the link, here is Ball State’s attempt to lure you to Toronto for the game:

Now if the image of Ball State Punter Chris Miller doesn’t have you running for the Canadian border, maybe you just don’t know much about MAC special teams.  This guy averaged 45.8 yards a punt, was on several All American Teams, and was a Ray Guy Award Finalist.  A newspaper report that I just made up in my head called Miller the “Jesus Christ of Mid American Conference Punters”.  Now, 26,717 fans crowded the Rogers Centre and it’s 53,230 capacity last year, and that was without the hyping of any punter to my knowledge.  Congratulations is in order to the Ball State marketing department for understanding what real college fans look for when tuning in or traveling to a bowl game; solid special teams play.
