The Sole Reason for the Tigers Demise

Written by admin | Visited 3706 times, 12 so far today

It isn’t the .264 team batting average.  It isn’t the Gary Sheffield hitting .213 or Curtis Granderson hitting .241 or  Brandon Inge hitting .223.  It  isn’t Justin Verlander’s, Kenny Rogers’ or Nate Robinson’s plus 5 ERA.  No friends the Tigers’ lack of success boils down, no pun intended, to the very sensitive posterior of Carlos Guillen. Jim Leyland explains:

“He can hardly move — he’s got hemorrhoids so bad,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Tuesday. “He’s been playing with hemorrhoids that probably need to be lanced. He probably shouldn’t have been out there (third base on Monday).”

Hemorrhoids notwithstanding, I refuse to push the panic button on this team until after the All-Star break.  That being said, can you imagine what people would be saying if Alan Trammell was still the manager.  Alan may have been fired already.   But the great Jim Leylan, with a career sub .500 record, doesn’t hear that type of ridicule.  I will give Jime credit that he places blame for the teams’ struggles on himself, but owning up to a poor record means nothing if you can’t turn it around.  I love Jim, but what do you think the press would be saying about Trammell was managing this team and had a 21-31 record through 52 games?
