I am sure, by now, that you have heard the appalling comments made by Tony Kornheiser on yesterday’s MNF broadcast. No? Well then, watch this video. I have to warn you though, it is not for the faint of heart.
Now, I really want to be offended, because I know he wouldn’t just apologize because frightened network executives thought the dry-cleaning comment might in some way be offensive to one or two Hispanic people. I know there is something in that video that is very offensive to some ethnic group. Now let’s run through some popular stereotypes and see if we can figure anything out:
Italians – Own Pizzerias or Construction Companies, subjects of many entertaining TV shows and movies
African-Americans – Own Barbershops (See movie Barbershop I-III)
Asians – Great at Math and Science, Invented several forms of martial arts
Indians – Great at tech support, great at men’s field hockey
Caucasians – Can’t Dance, talk in a nerdy voice most of the time
Hispanics – Great at Soccer, Probable inventors of delicious late-night fast food option
Hmmmm…I don’t see anything there that fits. Are Hispanic people the overwhelming majority proprieters of One Hour Martinizing? Is Tony Kornheiser a flaming racist who is hell bent on perpetuating this horrible and socially crippling stereotype? It sure looks that way. Excuse me, I have to puke.

I can’t help but notice how the only clearly negative stereotype is that of white people. As a white guy, I’d much rather it be assumed I’m a hard worker and good at math, or great at cooking food, a great athelete, or even had dancing ability.
I think people are just too rushed to become a victim. Get some real problems.
[...] From his ESPN afternoon radio show to PTI to Monday Night Football, Kornheiser has gotten progressively worse over the years. But, he’s loud.  And, so he keeps moving up in the sports world. Also, he is a flaming racist who is hell bent on perpetuating stereotypes involving Hispanics and dry cleaning. [...]
