Don’t Worry LeBron, These Athletes Looked Like Idiots Too

Written by aeneas07 | Visited 4300 times, 19 so far today |

Welcome back Violent J, who’s making his triumphant return to The Angry T.

TMZ, the same website that reported acquitted murderer Robert Blake was wearing a sleeveless shirt to a restaurant, also was the first to show us Xavier sophomore Jordan Crawford’s two handed facial of King James on Wednesday. You probably haven’t heard of Crawford, since he sat out last year after transferring from Indiana to Xavier, but the thought of anyone posterizing the reigning MVP was exciting news to sports fans everywhere.

As much as we idolize our top athletes and put their accomplishments on pedestals, we almost enjoy watching them get knocked down a few pegs even more. And while some of these humanizing moments happen at the end of their brilliant careers, watching hall of famers get taken down a notch is always interesting at the very least.

Here is just a brief sampling of some of the greatest athletes of all time not looking so great:

Michael Jordan getting crossed over by Iverson

I remember everyone saying how this was a changing of the guard, with Iverson just coming up in the league and Jordan at the very end of his prime. This is probably the closest thing you could compare to the Crawford / James dunk, since the other embarrassing Jordan moments were way out of his prime with the Wizards (missed dunks) and in retirement (losing to a CEO in 1 on 1).

Muhammad Ali vs Larry Holmes

Ali was not allowed out of his corner after the 10th round, and it is widely believed that it was fights like these at the end of his career that have caused the health problems he experiences now. Watching Ali get beat up by a guy he would have absolutely destroyed ten years earlier was sad to watch.

Dikembe Mutumbo wishing he had never wagged his finger

When you are a brash defender who lets people know it, you can expect it to be big news when someone goes nuts to chin on you.

Hulk Hogan loses title to Andre the Giant (RIP)

“Watcha gonna do brotha when emotional side effects of steroids runs wiiiiiiilllllllddddd on you?”

Favre’s 300th Interception

Considering this guys is considered one of the greatest QB’s of all-time, I think its odd that every NFL fan has a memory of him making a terrible throw.

Tiger Woods Failing to make the cut at this year’s British Open

Watching the greatest golfer of all-time not make a cut during a major was major news recently, however even the great ones like Nickalus ( 7 missed cuts before the age of 40) and Palmer (5 missed cuts before the age of 40) fall on their face occasionally at golf’s greatest stages.

Fading In The Twinkling Of An Eye
Gone Too Soon

Shiny And Sparkly
And Splendidly Bright

Gone One Night

Like The Loss Of Sunlight
On A Cloudy Afternoon
Gone Too Soon

Like A Castle
Built Upon A Sandy Beach
Gone Too Soon

Like A Perfect Flower
That Is Just Beyond Your Reach
Gone Too Soon

Born To Amuse, To Inspire, To Delight
Here One Day

Tyson knocked out by Buster Douglas

Will the Lebron James Facial be seen as more shocking then Douglas knocking Tyson out?

Finally, the Exclusive Lebron James – Jordan Crawford Dunk Video – High Quality

Written by aeneas07 | Visited 4337 times, 20 so far today |

If this video wasn’t treated like the JFK assassination tape, I’m not sure this dunk would have made headlines.  LeBron James was in the area, but it no way does Jordan Crawford jump straight over LeBron to throw it down.  At long last, watch and enjoy.

Jordan Crawford, in case this does turn out to be the highlight of your life, I would milk this thing for absolutely every penny possible.  If I don’t see you on a box of Wheaties in the next few weeks, I’ll be disappointed.

Rating the Top Points Guards in the Upcoming NBA Draft

Written by aeneas07 | Visited 651 times, 7 so far today |

Now that the NBA season is over and there’s no more NBA basketball betting to be done, it’s time to switch our focus to the NBA draft. If you’ve been following the lead-up to the NBA draft, you’ve probably figured out that there is quite a point guard battle brewing between Brandon Jennings, Jonny Flynn, Stephen Curry, Jrue Holiday and Ricky Rubio. While Jennings, Flynn, Holiday and Curry actually battle each other on the court, Ricky Rubio chooses to do individual workouts and let absolutely no one know how good he would be against NBA caliber guards. (Brandon Jennings has an idea)

The Angry T’s scouting staff has seen each of these players play and it’s time we broke down their respective games.  Of course, we won’t do this in the traditional sense, because it just isn’t as exciting.  We are going to compare these players to equally fit, trim and explosive athletes. Yes, you guessed correctly, we’re comparing them to the hot chicks on the recently finished Real World / Road Rules Challege: The Duel.

Brandon Jennings – Jennings is a great athlete with great quickness and passing ability. He’s also solid on the defensive end, despite being very thin. Jennings traveled to Italy after college to get in a year of seasoning before declaring for the NBA draft.  The jury is out on whether that was a good decision or not because he struggled in a system that didn’t compliment his abilities at Virtus Roma.

Real World Counterpart: Kimberly – Also slight, also athletic.  Jennings, like Kimberly, is a raw talent.

Stephen Curry - The polished scorer is a questionable point guard prospect at this point in his career.  He racked up a lot of assists in his junior season with Davidson, but it’s hard to not atrribute  many of those dimes to the amount of time he had the ball in his hands and how much attention the opposing defenses were paying to him.

Real World Counterpart: By far, the most questionable of the females was Jenn.  No one was quite sure whether she was a lesbian or not when she was on the Real World and I’m still a bit confused after this duel.  I imagine she shares my confusion.

Jrue Holiday – Another great athlete who excels on the defensive end.  He’s also more combo than point with his ability to score and developing jump shot.

Real World Counterpart - Paula – Paula attempted to play defense the entire time she was on the show by hanging all over Dunbar.  Unfortunately for her, the dude ended up making out with a very lesbian and very unattractive Aneesa and Kimberly ahead of her.

Jonny Flynn- Flynn has just about everything you could want in a point guard, except for size.  He’s probably closer to 5′10″ than he is to 6′ and while he is strong, he’ll need to get stronger in the league.  He’s still my favorite prospect in this entire draft because of his rare athleticism at the PG position.

Real World Counterpart: Diem – She couldn’t match the bulk of the eventual winner, Rachel.  Her litheness helped her until the final duel, where she was overwhelmed by a stronger Brittini.

Ricky Rubio - Ricky’s the belle of the ball in terms of point guard talent in this draft according to NBA scouts.  He’s a big point guard with great passing ability. He’s an adequate shooter from 2 and 3 and at 18, he obviously has a lot of time to improve. Most impressive to me was the fact that  he never looked overwhelmed or intimidated in the gold medal game against the United States.

Real World Counterpart – Rachel – She won The Duel, similar to how Ricky will probably win the race off the draft board among these talented guards.  She also made out a bunch with Jenn, and I’m not sure how that translates to Ricky, but it was kind of hot.

In Case You Haven’t Seen It, Meet Jarret Johnson

Written by aeneas07 | Visited 351 times, 6 so far today |

Behold the power of Jarrett Johnson:

Make sure you look at the bottom of the screen after the dunk and watch #44 run down the sidelines to give high fives to fans.  As the poster of this video notes, not a single one of the dunkee’s teammates attempts to help him up.

Merriam Webster has also ammended the definition of “Nuts on Chin,” to include a video of this dunk.

Earl Clark Does his Best Jonny Flynn Impression and Posterizes Luke Harangody

Written by aeneas07 | Visited 528 times, 7 so far today |

Hopefully you saw this live yesterday, because Earl Clark threw down one of the sickest dunks I’ve seen all year:

(the replay is at the 2:15 mark)

(Here is the Jonny Flynn dunk to which I refer)

I still don’t know how me managed to dunk the ball with two hands. It’s not surprising that this guy projects as a lottery pick in June’s draft.

The best thing to come out of this for Luke Harangody is that he finally made a poster.  Even though this guy will probably win Big East Player of the Year for the second straight year, it’s pretty difficult to find a jump hook exciting enough to put on a poster and adorn a child’s bedroom wall.

One Big Reason to Love Jonny Flynn

Written by aeneas07 | Visited 420 times, 7 so far today |

If you haven’t seen Jonny Flynn play, do  yourself a favor and sit down and enjoy a Syracuse game.  Flynn is the ultra-athletic Orangeman point guard who makes a few highlight reel plays each game.  This play, against Rutgers, is typical of Jonny’s body of work:

W.

O.

W.

According to NBADraft.net, Flynn projects as a late first round pick if he were to come out in the 2010 draft.  I have to imagine he slips that far because he is only 6′0″.  As always, the NBA is way to concerned with two inches in height, even when the talent is obviously there.  Flynn is a solid shooter with NBA range and a great distributor with unbelievably athleticism.  He should turn into a pretty solid point in the NBA.

Now that I’ve made my declaration of love for Jonny’s game, he will undoubtedly disappoint you the next time that you watch.  If he does disappoint, just rewatch the above video.

Lebron James’ “Mailman” Dunk Headlines his Personal Top 15 in 2008 (Yes, he has already made 15 ridiculous plays this season)

Hopefully you had an opportunity to see Lebron’s best Karl Malone impression last night:

Now compare that to Karl’s rendition:
