Florida Marlins hope to bring people to the ballpark using smoke, mirrors, 400 pound male dancers

Attendance has been a little bit of an issue for the 2-time World Series champion Florida Marlins.  Last year they drew in 16,919 fans a game, and 1.37 million for the whole season.  To put that in perspective, 14 teams drew twice as many fans as the 71-91 Marlins.  They also will go into the 08-09 season without their two most marketable players traded away; Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera.  But fear not Marlins fans, your innovative marketing department has figured out a way to bring more people to the park.  No, it’s not reliable starting pitcher, and a big bat to protect Hanley Ramirez in the middle of the order would be way too expensive.  Instead, the front office brass has given its fans the Manatees, Major League Baseball’s first plus-size male cheerleaders.  Here is a sneak peak at Florida’s sure fire way to bring fans into Dolphin Stadium this year:
