Jason Maxiell is not an All-Star caliber player as of yet, but produces at least one "Oh my God," moment every game. In game 4, he produced two. Here they are:
He also hit three or four jumpers in the game, which brought me more joy than either of these two plays because it means he may become at 15 and 10 type of guy when he gets the minutes.
In honor of Jason’s ridiculousness, we have put together a list of the Top 35 blocks of all-time. We started with a top 25 list, but we found so many good ones, that we kept adding and adding until we got to 35. When we got there, there were three more that just had to be added, so we ended up with 38. Take a look
38. Samuel Dalembert on Lebron James – This one is more surprising than anything else. Lebron does not get blocked very often:
37. Tyrus Thomas on Jamison
36. Sasha Pavlovic on Jason Kidd
35. Shawn Kemp on Michael Jordan
34. Dikembe Mutombo on Tyson Chandler – It is hard to find many good Dikembe block videos on youtube and the like. This one on Chandler is pretty impressive, especially when you consider their 20 year age difference:
33. Amare Stoudamire on Andray Blatche – Poor Andre
32. Marcus Camby on Austin Croshere – I don’t think I have ever seen a ball travel farther after it was blocked
31. Kenyon Martin – Correction, this is the farthest I have ever seen a ball travel after it was blocked
30. Dennis Rodman on Michael Jordan
29. Patrick Ewing Jr. block saves the game against WVU…but it was probably a goaltend
28. Alonzo Mourning on Hakim Warrick
27. Tyrus Thomas on Rip Hamilton – Tyrus swats a Hamilton shot into the seats and then puts his nuts on the back of Rip’s head.
26. Brandon Wright against Maryland
25. Bill Walton tries to block a shot with his shoe
24. Greg Oden against Tennessee – Big block to seal the game
23. Alonzo Mourning block Josh Smith
22. Josh Smith block Dwayne Wade – He hangs in the air for a good three seconds
21. Tayshaun Prince on Hedo Turkoglu
20. Lebron James on Rajon Rondo:
19. Michael Jordan against the Bulls:
18. Bogan Pogovic
17. Shaq on Michael Jordan
16. Kevin Garnett and Dwyane Wade – I like how KG puts this into the upper bowl
15. Tayshaun Prince on Reggie Miller
14. Josh Smith blocks Chris Bosh
13. More Jason Maxiell
12. Dwight Howard against Atlanta
11. Manue Bol four blocks on one play
10. David Robinson on MJ
And look at him run the floor like a deer. He has some handles:
9. Laphonso Ellis being Laphonso Ellis
8. Hakeem Ojajuwon against Portland. Is there a big man in the game today that could run the floor and make this block?
7. Cliff Hammonds block on James Gist:
6. Steve Francis against the Raptors
5. Nate Robinson on Yao Ming
4. Earl Watson on Shawn Bradley
3. Earl Boykins against the Clippers
2. Every Shawn Bradley block attempt
1. Lebron James against the Sacramento Kings –(First Clip) Take a look at the angry face he makes before he drills the ball out of bounds. That’s what makes this block my favorite.
Top 10 Blocks Of 2006 – The top video clips of the week are here
Disclaimer: I came across this video, which has at least three blocks that would end up in the top 10, unfortunately, I can’t find separate videos of them anywhere. Take a look at the block by Jordan on Ewing, or Barkley’s block, or even Wilt blocking Kareem’s skyhook, they are unreal:
Let me know how I messed up in the comments.
