The stage was set for Neil Rackers to set the record for longest field goal in NFL history. Steve Breaston had done his job and made a fair catch on the 42 yard line late in the first half on Sunday. The NFL’s ridiculous rules department had done its job and allowed the Cardinals to have a free kick (no men on the line of scrimmage) following the fair catch. And then, Neil did this:
I have to imagine that Neil is familiar with the kick-off, a free kick which is taken from the 30 yard line. I bet Neil regularly kicks the ball from the 30 yard line all the way into the end zone, a 75 yard kick in the air. From the looks of the above video, he kicked that football around 30 yards. Nice job Neil, you’ve embarassed the club-footed Tom Dempsey.
