I am sure, by now, that you have heard the appalling comments made by Tony Kornheiser on yesterday’s MNF broadcast.  No? Well then,  watch this video.  I have to warn you though, it is not for the faint of heart.

Now, I really want to be offended, because I know he wouldn’t just apologize because frightened network executives thought the dry-cleaning comment might in some way be offensive to one or two Hispanic people.  I know there is something in that video that is very offensive to some ethnic group.  Now let’s run through some popular stereotypes and see if we can figure anything out:

Italians – Own Pizzerias or Construction Companies, subjects of many entertaining TV shows and movies

African-Americans – Own Barbershops (See movie Barbershop I-III)

Asians – Great at Math and Science, Invented several forms of martial arts

Indians – Great at tech support, great at men’s field hockey

Caucasians – Can’t Dance, talk in a nerdy voice most of the time

Hispanics – Great at Soccer, Probable inventors of delicious late-night fast food option

Hmmmm…I don’t see anything there that fits.  Are Hispanic people the overwhelming majority proprieters of One Hour Martinizing? Is Tony Kornheiser a flaming racist who is hell bent on perpetuating this horrible and socially crippling stereotype? It sure looks that way.  Excuse me, I have to puke.
